Have a read of this:
You see two things: A man who asks for the Lord Jesus to heal his daughter, and another daughter who puts all her faith in the One she’s heard about.
Both are healed.
One, because of a fathers desperate, but faithful plea; another, because she’s taking her last bet, by the looks of things!
The woman is too scared to ask outright for healing, so gets her needs met secretly. She has no idea that she’s about to be found out.
“Who touched Me? I felt power go out of me!”
The woman, trembling in possible terror comes clean, telling Christ what she did and why she did it.
“Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your trouble.”
No more fear, but a sense of absolute peace must have overcome her. God blessed her, and her story is told as a reminder to us.
The daddy is told by the crowds that his daughter is dead, so give up bothering the teacher any more.
I mean, wow.
What these people haven’t seen yet is that Jesus rules. Even over death itself. It is written in the Scriptures that death is the last enemy. That was true even before it got written in a scroll. It is still true today. And Christ still rules over it.
Yup. Even now.
Again, we see those who encourage the man to be unfaithful. The Lord tells him otherwise, and refuses to allow anyone to follow Him except for those few named disciples, and of course, the parents of the child.
Christ calls her back to life and a father rejoices.
He tells the woman her faith has healed her and she should go in peace and be healed of her trouble.
Anyone up for acting in faith for a change? Let’s challenge each other to pray in faith for whatever it is we need sorting, especially if this online church thing gets going, and when our prayers are answered, what about telling each other of our praise reports? We can then use those to draw others in. No, we can’t save anyone else, but we can tell of our God Who is not just mighty, but Almighty.
Up for it?
