Look at these words from Jeremiah 5:20-25:
20: “Announce this to the house of Jacob and proclaim it in Judah:
21: Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear.
22: Should you not fear Me?” declares the LORD,”should you not tremble in My presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar but they cannot cross it.
23: But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts; they have turned aside and gone away.
24: They do not say to themselves, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God, Who gives autumn and spring rains in season, Who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’
25: Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.”
For as long as I can remember, we no longer have any sea boundaries. The sea is eating away at the land at an ever-increasing rate so that people are having to leave their houses. Last year, our seasons, where I live, had completely changed. We used to know what was coming and could set the seasonal clock by the weather. This is no longer true. Autumn encroaches when it should be summer. It’s autumnal/wintery weather for most of the year, this year, instead of seasons of warmth and cold. There’s more rain and wind than people can cope with. Floods in abundance for much of the year.
It only takes a few verses of Scripture to work out what’s happening in the world. If only more people would take more notice. It’s our sins that have caused this havoc in the world. Why do we not seek God? For those who do, we have this promise – that he will keep His people alive in the midst of famine. Psalm 33:19.
